Obituary

METHUEN – Edward D. Parolisi, 90 passed away on March 28, 2015 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.
Born and educated in Lawrence, Edward was the son of Cosimo and Assunta (Pompei) Parolisi and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. He also attended Lowell Tech, where he studied mechanical engineering. Born on July 25, 1924 in Lawrence, where he grew up and moved to Methuen in 1959, where he spent the remainder of his years. Edward was the husband of Virginia A. (Herbin) Parolisi of Swampscott, Andover and Methuen MA, with whom he shared 51 wonderful years of marriage.
Edward spent his career as a production supervisor in the textile industry and was employed with Freudenberg Nonwovens in Lowell, MA, for 30 years before his retirement in 1985. He was an active member of the Methuen Council of the Knights of Columbus. He spent his remaining years and some winters in Florida, enjoying friends, going to dinner with his wife and spending time working in his garden. Most of all he enjoyed spending quality time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Edward was a man of strong faith, a consummate loving father and husband, focused on his children’s education, well-being, but most of all ensuring they all valued and strove for what he cared about most in life, finding happiness.
Edward was predeceased by his first wife, Leona (Brum), and is survived by his loving wife, Virginia; his children, Barbara Lee Blaney and her husband Scott of North Andover, MA, Ed Parolisi and his wife Beth (Plentzas) of Rye, NH and John Parolisi and his wife Julia (Jensen) of Dallas, TX. Four grandchildren, Brooke (Blaney) Daley and her husband Scott of Franklin, MA, Michaela (Blaney) Rodden and her husband Brett of North Andover, MA, Jack Parolisi and Erin Parolisi of Dallas, TX; two great-grandchildren, Gryffin and Grier Daley of Franklin, MA. Edward also leaves his brother, Steve Parolisi and his wife Mary of Methuen, MA and his sister, Josephine Palermo of Andover, MA and a sister-in-law, Lydia Parolisi of Tewksbury, MA.
Memorials can be made in Edward’s name of Merrimack Valley Hospice 360 Merrimack St. BLDG 9 Lawrence, MA 01843. Visiting hours for family and friends will be Tuesday from 4:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street Methuen, MA 01844. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9:00a.m. in St. Monica’s Church in Methuen with burial to follow in the Elmwood Cemetery also in Methuen, MA.
