Jeannette M. LaRochelle, 89, of Mendon Rd. Cumberland died Saturday afternoon at Woonsocket Health Center. She was the loving wife of the late Montcalm J. “Larry” LaRochelle. They were married on November 24, 1949 and enjoyed 64 years of wedded bliss together until his passing on February 24, 2014. They were always in love as a couple.
Born and raised in Cumberland she was a daughter of the late Valmore and Adeline (Bousquet) Dumont.
Larry and Jeannette moved to Florida in 1972 and resided in Pompano Beach and later lived in Edgewater. She was employed for many years in computer services and office products.
Mr. and Mrs. LaRochelle celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary and renewed their vows, on a cruise ship in Hawaii. At the celebration they were entertained by the Hawaiian legend Don Ho & Ensemble.
They also visited California and Las Vegas (including a 100-lane bowling lane in Reno, Nevada) and many other parts of the country in their motor home. After having lived in Florida for 34 years Larry and Jeannette relocated back to Cumberland in 2006.
Jeannette enjoyed arts and crafts and making and decorating dolls and figurines.
She is survived by two brothers Raymond Dumont and Maurice Dumont and a sister Yvonne Ponton. She was the sister of the late Doris Holcomb. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 11:00 am in St. James Church, Division St. Manville. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Visiting hours are Tuesday morning from 9:30-10:30 am, prior to Mass, in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 71 Central St. Manville.
