Olivette M. Godin, 101, of Woosncoket died peacefully Friday morning at Oakland Grove Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Philippe Godin who passed away in 1947.
Born in Fall River she was a daughter of the late Adelard and Elizabeth (Bosse) Chapdelaine. She was a resident of Woonsocket for most of her life.
In her early years Mrs. Godin worked in the local textile industry and later was employed at Granite Corp in Framingham and C. R. Randall Jewelry in North Attleboro. She was a longtime communicant of St. Charles Parish and a member of the Parkview Manor Association. Olivette was a well-read woman and enjoyed arts and crafts and many trips with family.
Olivette will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother who raised her family after the untimely death of her husband with the faith, grace and inner strength that were her hallmarks. She was very happy to celebrate her 100th birthday on May 16, 2013 surrounded by her family and friends.
She is survived by a son Lionel R. “Nel” Godin and his wife, Sandra, of Blackstone and a daughter Susanne L. Godin of Woonsocket. She was the sister of George Chapdelaine of North Carolina and the late William Chapdelaine and Eva Barrie. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Emile and Lucienne Pierel. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Her funeral will be Wednesday at 10:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Charles Church, North Main St. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-7 pm.
