Rita Fern Lazzaro passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center of Burlington. She was 86. Born and raised in Holliston she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Louise Onistzuk. A Medford resident for nearly 70 years, Rita was active in her community. Her late husband Frank was a founding member of the Mystic Wellington Yacht Club and with him, she hosted and directed many charity events for young underprivileged children. She was active in civic affairs and for many years worked at the Registry of Motor Vehicles on Nashua St. in Boston.


The beloved wife of the late Frank Lazzaro who passed away in 2008, she was a devoted mother to Palma Borns of Flint, Frank, Jr. of Weymouth, Teresa Hughes of Plymouth, Steven of Medford, Michael of Stoneham, Diane Cullen of Peabody and the late Anthony Lazzaro. A loving grandmother to Steven Jr., Richard, Tony, Tiffany, Cindi, Sandy,Yvonne and Michael Jr. she is also survived by 8 great grandchildren and is predeceased by her siblings Laura Vess and Jimmy Onistzuk.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford, Monday March 30 at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit Sunday 4 - 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
