Janice Pinette
3/11/2015

Janice Spaulding Pinette of Haverhill, MA and formerly of E. Falmouth, MA, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Beth Israeli Deaconess hospital after a long illness. Family members were at her bedside.
Janice was born on January 8, 1936 in Arlington, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of the late Wilmont (Bud) Spaulding and Ruby Faxon Spaulding. She attended Haverhill High School and a year of Salem State College. She married her childhood sweetheart, Ronald Pinette, on December 9, 1956. Janice was a loving wife and mother whose primary focus was caring for her family while they frequently moved around the country, following Ron's Air Force career. She made a comfortable home for her family, sometimes while Ron was away for up to a year at a time, no matter where they happened to be living. After Ron retired in 1974, they bought a house on Cape Cod and were very happy there for 35 years, until they moved back to Haverhill. They bought a house in East Falmouth in 1973 and Ron retired there the next year. They lived very happily on Cape Cod for nearly 35 years. In 2008 they moved back to Haverhill and enjoyed being closer to family. For many years Janice also worked out of her home as a part-time typist for a publishing company, a job she loved.
In addition to keeping her home and taking care of her family, Janice had a passion for crafts. She tried every type of craft she could, including ceramics, quilling, paper toile, needlepoint and many others, and she was very good at them all. She made innumerable favors and centerpieces for showers, weddings and parties, and wonderful gifts for her family and extended family, including nieces and nephews. Many of these gifts are still used and cherished today.
Janice is survived by her sister Dorothy Gilmore and husband Richard; sister-in-law Lorraine Bouchard and husband William; her daughter Catherine McDonagh and husband Mark; daughter Patricia Alexander and husband Jeffrey; son John Pinette and wife Heidi; son Daniel Pinette and wife Nicole; grandchildren Jeffrey, Jr. and Daniel Alexander; Shawn and Ashley Pinette; and Dylan and Samantha Pinette; plus eight nieces and a nephew.
Janice will be laid to rest next to Ron, at the Bourne National Cemetery on Cape Cod at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 3. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Opportunity Works, 10 Opportunity Way, Newburyport, MA 01950 or to the charity of the donor's choice. Checks should be made payable to Opportunity Works and please acknowledge that the donation is in memory of Janice Pinette.
