Esther M. “Bobo” (Watson) Neto, age 89, of Taunton, formerly of Norton, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, March 23, 2015 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph G. Neto to whom she was wed for 27 years at the time of his death on January 20, 1981.
Born in Norton, MA on January 21, 1926, she was a loving daughter of the late James C. Watson and Esther M. (Lincoln) Watson-Henning. She grew up in Norton and was a 1943 graduate of Norton High School.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Neto worked as the Office Manager for the former Gallego Oil Co. in Taunton for over 20 years and for many years; she also held her realtor brokers license in Massachusetts and served as a Notary Public.
When younger, she had worked at the former Talbots Woolen Mill in Norton and for W.R. Parks in Taunton.
A resident of Taunton for the past 62 years, Bobo was a lifelong member and supporter of the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Norton, and was a former member of the church’s What’s-So-Ever Club.
She was a lifelong member of the Norton Historical Society and a member of the Mayflower Descendants. Mrs. Neto was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, affiliated with King David Masonic Lodge in Taunton.
Bobo enjoyed spending the summer months at her home in Mattapoisett, wintering in Florida, and especially taking trips with her younger brother Jimmy.
Following the death of her mother, she became the Matriarch of the Watson family. She was affectionately known as “Bobo” by family and friends, and “Queenie” and the “Big Kahuna” by her adoring children.
She was the devoted mother of Lynne A. Street and her husband Richard of Plainville and Joseph L. Neto of Taunton. She was the dear sister of Albert C. Watson and James E. Watson both of Norton, and the late Wallace C. Watson, Charlotte A. Driver and Marguerite V. Vincent. She was the cherished grandmother of Ashley E. Street of Plainville and is also survived by several generations of loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, April 1st at 10:00 in the Trinitarian Congregational Church, East Main and Pine Streets, Norton. Burial will follow at the Norton Center Cemetery in Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, March 31st from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
