Obituary

Teresita Torres Castro left this world for her true home on March 23, 2015. Born May 20, 1924, one of ten children, in San José, Costa Rica, she came to California upon her marriage to Jerry Torres, owner of El Poche Café, San Gabriel, in 1947.

Loving wife and mother, Tere raised and is survived by four children: Sandra Robinson, Carmen Torres-Fiolek, Anna Victoria Zolkover, and Daniel José Torres; by her grandchildren: Christian and Daniel Robinson, Andrew Fiolek, Marissa Zolkover Cozzens and Matthew Zolkover, Thalia and Dane Torres; by great-grandchildren Meleana Hong-Robinson, Cullen Cozzens, (Scarlett Noelle Cozzens May 2015), Weston Zolkover.

“Bida’s” genuine love, generosity of spirit, and positive personality extended her caring affection to more than just the numerous members of her immediate family, including and especially her sister Flora Barahona of San José, Costa Rica. To say that she will be sorely missed by any who made her acquaintance along life’s path would not be an exaggeration. Her true gift was in making each person the center of her attention, and they were. And, through the abiding faith she held throughout her life, we say with certainty that she has been met in Heaven by the numerous loved ones who preceded her.

A memorial mass to celebrate Teresita’s life will be held on Monday, April 13, 2015, at 10 a.m. at San Buenaventura Mission, Ventura, CA. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Oakhurst Hospice, www.oakhursthospice.com, or 860 Hampshire Road, Suite R, Westlake Village, CA 91361, whose sensitive and dedicated care eased her passage.
