NEW BEDFORD — Mena (Souza) Shores, 89 years, died Sunday March 15, 2015, at home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Stephen T. Shores.
The daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Miranda) Souza, she was born in New Bedford and was a graduate of New Bedford High School Class of 1943.
She also graduated from Kinyon Campbell Business School and was employed as a medical secretary at St. Luke's Hospital. During the war effort she was employed at Cornell Dubilier. Her great joy was her family.
She is survived by daughters, Diane Shores, Linda Clarke and Kathy Holstein; her grandchildren Rebecca and Amy and great-granddaughter, Sophie Mena; and several nieces and nephews; and was the mother of the late Philip Shores and sister of the late Mary Souza and Frank Souza, Jr.
Funeral services were private. It is suggested that remembrances be made in her name to the charity of one's choice.
