Grandfather to Brian and Matthew Rhone, Jennifer Cravedi, and Ryan Gallagher. Brother to Joseph Gallagher of Louisville, KY and Arthur Gallagher of River Edge, NJ. Also survived by a large Gallagher clan. Predeceased by his wife, Gail Woods Gallagher and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral from the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury on Wednesday March 25, at 9:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Theresa of Avila Church at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours in the Funeral Home on Tuesday March 24, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
Interment will be private.
Proud graduate of Manhattan College, Boston University, and Boston College Law School. An attorney in private practice in South Boston for many years, Dan was a former partner in the law firm Maloney, Gallagher and Kirk. Prior to his law career he was a sports editor for the Boston Globe. The Navy was an important part of Dan’s life. Promoted to Captain in 1973, he was commanding officer of two Naval Reserve Companies. Dan was actively involved in his communities including President of the MA Bay Navy League, Past President of the New England Chapter of the USO and as a Board Member and fund raiser for the South Boston Community Health Center.
