MASHPEE: Robert C. “Bob” Holland, 78, formerly of Cochituate, died comfortably on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the Cape Cod Hospital following a period of declining health due to complications from a lengthy history of cardiac disease.

He was born in Newton on July 19, 1936 the son of the late Harold Holland and Evelyn (Page) Holland.

Bob is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 31 years, Regina “Genie” (Moran) Holland of Mashpee formerly of Cochituate. Loving father of Andrew Holland and his wife Janet Holland of Framingham; Susan Conrado and her husband Ronald Conrado, Jr of North Grafton; Kenneth Holland and his girlfriend Becky St. Onge of Osterville and Keith Thomason and his wife Heather Thomason of Hudson. Brother of Carol Knight of Manchester, NH; Howard “Dutch” Holland of North Abington and Barry Jacobs of Matthews, North Carolina. Also survived by 10 cherished grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Former husband of the late Jayne (Crosby) Summers.

Bob has been a resident of Mashpee for the past several years and formerly resided in Cochituate for over 30 years. He spent his formative years in Newton and graduated from Newton High School with the Class of 1955. He received his BS in Education and his Masters in Education both from Boston University. He participated with the track team at both Newton High School and Boston University. He had a long and distinguished career as a teacher and guidance counselor in the Needham School system at Newman Junior High School where he was a coach for football, basketball and track. He also served as the track coach for Needham High School. Upon his retirement from teaching he was associated for several years as a Sales Engineer for the Kenneth Crosby Co of Hopkinton formerly of Cochituate and Natick.

He was an avid golfer and a member of Cotuit Highgrounds Golf Club and enjoyed playing with his sons and friends. He was a loyal and devoted Patriots fan for years, even during the “not so good” seasons. Bob loved being a handyman around his home in Mashpee and always had a project going. He enjoyed reading and lively conversations regarding politics. His proudest accomplishments were his children and his grandchildren and loved all the times spent together. Bob and his wife Genie enjoyed retirement and traveling especially their trip to Alaska. He will be missed by all of the lives that he touched during his lifetime.

Visitations will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the Bryant memorial chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.

Family and friends are cordially invited to his funeral services on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 10:00 o’clock at Community United Methodist Church, 5 Damon St (corner of Rte 27 and Damon St), Cochituate.

Interment to follow in the Holland family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Cochituate.

In lieu of flowers his family kindly suggests that memorial gifts in Bob’s memory may be sent to the American Heart Association, POB 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
