PROVIDENCE… Rick Medeiros, 56, of Fall River, formerly of Tiverton, passed away March 15, 2015 following a battle with cancer.
Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mariam (Flynn) Medeiros. He lived most of his life in the Tiverton area.
It is hard to describe what Rick meant to the people who knew him; he would drop everything and come help any friend or family if they needed him. He was a mentor and friend to so many who knew him as Uncle Rick. He worked hard and played hard, always on the go if he could help it. He would find broken bicycles, fix them up and leave them in housing developments for children to find and play with. He was selfless.
Proud to be half Narragansett Indian, Mr. Medeiros worked as a mechanic for 20 years at General Auto Recycling of Tiverton. He enjoyed motorcycle trips, golf, playing cards, watching and playing sports and loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter Joslynn.
Survivors include his daughter; Amylynn Loreck of Fall River, his granddaughter Joslynn Loreck of Fall River, 2 sisters; Mariam Baclund of Marion & Cindi Gadson of Clearwater, FL, several nieces and nephews. He was the youngest of 12 children and was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 6 brothers.
At the request of the family, services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to SOUTH COAST FUNERAL HOME, 1555 Pleasant St. Fall River, MA. Donations in Richard’s name can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
