John H. Gaquin, 89, of Whitman, passed away on Friday, March 13th. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Marguerite (Brides) Gaquin.
John was born in Revere, son of the late Joseph D. and Marguerite (O'Neil) Gaquin. He was raised in Avon and was a graduate of Avon High School, Class of 1943. John then served his country in the United States Marine Corp as a Corporal from 1943-1946.
John was a member of the Whitman VFW Post 697 in Whitman.
In addition to his wife Marguerite, he is survived by his children: John H. Gaquin Jr. and his wife Terry of West Bridgewater, Patricia E. Gaquin of Whitman, Kathaleen M. Ryan and her husband Doug of Pembroke, Maureen E. O'Mara and her husband Kevin of Bridgewater, Donald J. Gaquin of WI, Suzanne M. Davenport and her husband James of CT, and Michael J. Gaquin of Whitman; his grandchildren: John H. Gaquin III and his fiance Jacqueline Hopgood of Attleboro, Paul O'Donnell and his wife Kaitlyn Owen of Dartmouth, Danielle LaVigne and her husband Andrew, Maureen Traxel-Wright and her husband Branden all of WI, Stephanie, Kyle, and Alex Davenport of CT, Miranda and Jillian Gaquin of Whitman; his step-grandchildren: Jessica Caffin, Donald Ryan and his wife Lily of Brockton; his great-grandchildren: Carter, Liam, and Jonathan; and his step-great-grandchildren: Dillon, Katrina, Christian and Maya. He is also survived by his sister Marjorie T. Busheme and her husband Edward of Texas, and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by brothers Joseph, William, and Donald Gaquin.
His services will be held on Wednesday, March 18th at 10:00 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Burial will follow in the St. Michael's Cemetery, Avon. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 17th from 4:00-8:00 PM.
