Robert P. Delaney, Jr. age 33, of Norton, formerly of Plymouth and Hyde Park, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved fiancé of Stephanie A. Holland of Norton.
Born in Boston, MA on October 30, 1981, he was a loving son of Judi E. (Sbardella) Mirka of Norton and Robert P. Delaney, Sr. of Norton.
Bob grew up and was educated in Hyde Park and Plymouth. He loved assuming the responsibilities of being a stay home father, and had previously been employed in the landscaping and construction fields.
Spending time with family, especially with his son’s was the essence of Bob’s life. His hobbies included fishing, times spent at the beach and camping.
He also enjoyed entertaining friends with his exceptional cooking skills and had a special place in his heart for animals.
In addition to his fiancé and parents he is survived by his cherished sons: Shane R. Delaney and Patrick A. Delaney both of Norton. He was the dear brother of Melissa D. Vayo and her husband John of Assonet and the adoring grandson of Americo Sbardella of Hyde Park. He is also survived by many loving aunts and uncles, and his dog “Pedro”
His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Saturday, March 21st at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will be private.
A reception honoring Robert’s life will follow at the Norton VFW, 38 Summer St., Norton.
Visitation at the funeral home has been omitted and in place of flowers, Bob’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Delaney Children’s Educational Fund, care of, TD Bank, 280 School St., Mansfield, MA 02048.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St., Norton.
