Hudson, MA
Laura A. (Monteiro) King, 89, a lifelong resident of Hudson, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 13th at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester. She was the loving wife of 65 years to Stuart J. King of Hudson.
Laura was born and raised in Hudson, daughter of the late Manuel and Felicidad (Alves) Monteiro. She attended local schools and was a 1943 graduate of Hudson High School. She spent 20 plus years working with the Hudson Light and Power Company in their billing department until her retirement. She was a member of Saint Isidore’s Parish in Stow.
Laura took great pride in the care of her home and always let it be known that she was in charge. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren and later her great grandchildren. She will be remembered always as a devoted wife and mother, a loving grandmother and adoring great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Melody Danker and her fiancé, Kevin Bittner, both of Townsend; her two loving grandchildren, Joshua Danker and his wife Deepa of Somerville, Jared Danker of Manhattan, NY; her three adoring great grandchildren, Rohan, Nikhil and Jude and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Rose Santos, Julia McCourt, Mamie Pender, Anthony Monteiro and Leslie Monteiro.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday March 17th at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Isidore Church, 429 Great Road, Stow. Burial services will be held privately in Saint John’s Cemetery, Lancaster. Calling hours will be held on Monday March 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Laura may be made to: Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
