Charles R. Conant Jr. of Yarmouthport, formerly Whitman, MA died on March 11, 2015 at 98 years of age, after a brief illness.
Born in Whitman, MA, he was the son of Charles R. Conant and Bessie G. (Ryder) Conant. Mr. Conant graduated from Phillips Andover Academy and attended Brown University. He enlisted in the Navy and was commissioned as an Ensign. After his military service, Mr. Conant owned the A.C. Freeman Hardware Company until 1976 when he and his wife relocated to Yarmouthport.
He was predeceased by his wife 69 years, Mary A.(Keveney) Conant, and survived by his six sons and five daughters-in-law, Charles R. III and his wife Ellen of Hanson, Peter J. and his wife Marlene of Ossippee, NH, Paul of Boxboro, John C. and his wife Cynthia of East Longmeadow, Mark E. and his wife Catherine of South Yarmouth, and Patrick and is wife Margaret of Plymouth. He was predeceased by his sisters Virginia Litchfield, Janet Conant and Bettina Martino, and his daughter, the late Jane M. (Conant) Bates of Whitman and a grandson the late Parker W. Bates III. Mr. Conant is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
His services will be held on Sunday March 15th at 5:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St (Rte 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman.
