NATICK: Dorothy G. “Dolly” (Nichols) Gurney, age 87, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, died peacefully on Monday night, March 9, 2015. She was the devoted wife of the late Harold L. “Bud” Gurney, Jr., for 60 years.
A daughter of the late John and Rose (Lakusta) Nichols, Dolly was a 1945 graduate of Natick High School. She was employed with the Natick Department of Veteran’s Services for 23 years.
Predeceased by Bud in 2011, and their daughter, Diane Marie Gurney, in 2010, Dolly is survived by two sons, Daniel P. Gurney and Harold L. “Lee” Gurney, III, and his wife Carolyn, all of Natick; five grandchildren, Peter C. Woodward and his wife Stephanie of Shirley, Charlotte Hannon and her husband Michael of Natick, Brian D. Gurney of Framingham, Laura Ann VanDorn and her husband Timothy of Shirley, and Daniel Arthur Barker of Natick; two great-grandchildren, Thomas B. Hannon and Chloe Ann Woodward; and several nieces and nephews and their families. She was also the sister of the late Marie N. Cole and John W. Nichols.
Her funeral service will be held in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Thursday, March 12th at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family prior to the service beginning at 10:00AM.
