Obituary

Victoria (Mello) Camara, age 99, of Somerset and Fall River, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2015. She was the beloved wife of the late Antone “Tony” Camara and the daughter of the late Firmino C. & Francisca (Calista) Mello. Prior to retiring, Victoria and her husband Tony of nearly 70 yrs. were the Co-Owners of Robeson Food Mart on Robeson St. After three times expanding the Robeson Food Mart, changing its name to the Robeson Super Market and affiliating with the Independent Grocers' Association (IGA). Previously, she had worked for the Shelburne Shirt Co and was also a parishioner of Holy Name Church.

She is survived by her 2 sons: Attorney William G. Camara and his wife Vivian of Swansea and Steven A. Camara and his partner, Gordon J. Santos of Fall River; son in law: Paul Vital of Norton; grandchildren: Joseph T. Camara of Port Orford, OR, Keith M. Camara & wife Kristine of Boca Raton, FL, Kevin M. Camara & wife Bridget of Springfield, MA, Lisa M. Bertuola & husband Larry of Wayne, PA, Jennifer C. Green & husband John of Clinton, MA; and many great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late and dearly beloved Joan V. (Camara) Vital, a former mathematics teacher and director of technology in Norton, MA Public Schools and the sister of the late Hortense Gamboa, Ambrosia Vieira, Georgeana Pontes, Mary Ralph, Evelyn White, Firmino and Raymond Mello.

Victoria’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff and ownership of both the Clifton Assisted Living and Clifton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their quality care provided.

Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on WEDNESDAY with visitation from 9:00-10:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Name Church at 11:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
