Obituary

Grovetown, GA – Jackie Johns Wasden, 72, beloved wife of Wayne E. Wasden, Sr., entered into rest on Saturday, February 28, 2015. She left this earth peacefully with her family holding her hands, and more family waiting on the other side to greet her.

Jackie loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Grove First Baptist Church, where she served as the church secretary for many years. She was always quick to welcome new members and coo over every baby. She sang in the church choir and often played the organ and the piano. She served as a youth leader and led many young people to the Lord. She loved her work as the executive secretary for Grovetown Elementary School and probably knew and was adored by every child in town. She grew up and lived her entire life in the city of Grovetown and was proud to call it home. Jackie never met a stray animal she couldn’t charm and she loved her pets, taking them for rides all over town and spoiling them rotten. She was lively, quick-witted, and perfectly put together. She loved to joke and tease and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room.

In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughter; Donna W. Smith of Evans, GA, two sons; Wayne E. Wasden, Jr. (Susan) of Appling, GA, Steven “Caleb” Wasden of Grovetown, GA, 5 grandchildren; Joshua Wasden, Jonathan Smith (Chelsea), Laurel Smith, Carly Boulineau (Zach), Cody Connor, special niece; Betsy Milburn (Charles) and their daughters; Jenna M. Teachey (Doug) and Anna M. Kirchman (Kyle), and her beloved cats and dogs. She was preceded in death by her sister; Laura Johns Braswell, and her parents, Otis and Johnnie Johns.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Grove First Baptist Church with Chris Redmond officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Smith, Harold Smith, Cody Connor, Taylor Sheets, Mark Rodgers, and Steve Kitchings.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
