Dartmouth – Margarida (Carvalho) Rego, age 78 of of South Dartmouth, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at home with her family by her side. She was a loving wife of Jose J. Rego and the daughter of Fortunata (Aguiar) and Augustino Carvalho.
Mrs. Rego was born in St. Michael Azores, and after moving to this country, she worked as a seamstress at Cliftex Corporation until her retirement.
Her family includes her 3 children: Paul Rego and his wife Adeline of Dartmouth, MA, Joseph Rego and his wife Denise of Acushnet, MA, Sandra Sousa and her husband Manuel of Dartmouth, MA, 4 Grandchldren: Vanessa West, Stephanie Burek, Joshua Rego, Raquel Sousa, 3 Great Grandchildren: Chloe West, Savannah Rego, Noah Burek, Siblings: Maria do Carmo Farias, Henrique Carvalho, Serafina Goncalves, several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will take place on Friday beginning in the funeral home at 8 A.M. and continuing at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visitation will take place in the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
