Obituary

GILFORD – Paul R. “C-Rider” Marcotte, 62, of 23 Liscomb Circle, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Lakes Region General Hospital.

Paul was born and raised in Laconia. After attending Sacred Heart Catholic Grammar School he graduated in 1970 from Laconia High School. Paul left the area when he enlisted to serve his country in the US Air Force. While performing his duty he was stationed in Germany and in Alaska. He attained the rank of Sergeant in the Military Police before coming home in 1973.

Paul worked for quite a while at Malibu Iron Works in Laconia. When he later became “disabled”, he could still fix just about anything people brought to him that was broken. To say that Paul enjoyed motorcycle riding is a major understatement. He went to Sturgis 21 times and knew every back road and byway here in New Hampshire. Paul liked to ice fish in the winter, even when it was just sitting in the bob house swapping stories. He was one of the best bonfire builders to be found and always welcomed another traveler.

He is survived by his wife, Jan (McGranahan) Marcotte of Gilford, his daughter Rene’ Hoover, grandson Tyler and granddaughter Jocelyn, all of Rutherfordton, NC, his brothers Michael Marcotte of Meredith and Gary Marcotte of Gilford, his nephew Justin Marcotte of Vermont, cousins Toni Marcotte and his wife Tina of Manchester and Robert Marcotte and his wife Cindy of Laconia, his uncle Marcel Marcotte of Manchester and many other extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents.

Memorial calling hours will be held from 4PM to 7PM on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance. A memorial service will immediately follow at 7PM, also at the funeral home with Shawn McCormack from Cornerstone Ministries officiating. Interment will be held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mae West Memorial Run, C/O the New Hampshire Humane Society, PO BOX 572, Laconia, NH 03247.
