Obituary



Jozef Soroka, age 79, of Lynn, died March 1 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born and educated in Poland, he was the son of the late Florian and Stanislawa (Jakobiec) Soroka and the husband of Janina (Kopach) Soroka, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.
He came from Poland in 1972 and worked as a tailor in Jordan Marsh and Kennedy’s men’s apparel stores. He became owner-operator of the Joseph Soroka Tailor Shop in Hamilton and Wenham for 25 years, retiring five years ago.
He was a former communicate of St. Michael’s Parish until its closing.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Val Soroka, and his wife, Pamela, of Hamilton, beloved grandfather of Alexander and Kyle Soroka, brother of Henryk Soroka of Florida, Waclaw Soroka and his wife Franciszka of Lynn and Maria Soroka of Florida. He was the brother of the late Antoni Soroka and several nieces and nephews.
Service information: Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the NADWORNY FUNERAL HOME, 798 Western Ave., Lynn, Friday at 9:30 a.m., followed by his Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Broadway, Lynn. Visiting hours Thursday from 4- 8 p.m.
