Obituary

Gerard N. Blais, 91, of Ray Avenue, died on Friday, February 27, 2015 in the Holiday Retirement Home, Manville. He was the husband of Constance C. (Peloquin) Blais, whom he married June 10, 1950. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late William and Parmilia (Millotte) Blais.
An Army veteran of WWII, Gerard served in the Medical Corp in Reykjavik, Iceland. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and St. Joseph’s Veterans. Proudly, he recently flew with his son on Honor Flight America to Washington, DC.
Mr. Blais worked at Hasbro for over twenty years and several textile mills until his retirement from Rochambeau in 1989. He was a communicant of St Joseph’s. He enjoyed playing cards and golfing with his friends and he enjoyed cooking for his family who were the joy of his life.
Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Richard Blais and his wife Linda of Waterbury, CT, grandchildren Michael Blais and Annabelle Coffey and her husband Paul, great grandchildren Kendall and Reese Coffey who affectionately called him “the little Pepere,” and three brothers, Albert and Eddie Blais, both of North Smithfield and Normand Blais of Johnston, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Raymond A. Blais in 1975, his brother Oliva “Bob” Blais and his sister Jeannette Levesque.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 4th at 11:00 from the Fournier and Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St, Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon in St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Rd, Woonsocket. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY, 41076 or St. Joseph’s Veterans, 99 Louise St, Woonsocket.
