Obituary

John E. Iagatta, Sr., 74, of East Walpole, died February 26 in the Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He was the husband of Evelyn I. (Angus) Iagatta for the past 54 years.
Born in Norwood, May 22, 1940, the son of the late Daniel and Josephine (Santamarco) Iagatta. Mr. Iagatta was a lifelong Walpole resident.
Mr. Iagatta was a 1957 graduate of Walpole High School, where he was an outstanding member of the football team.
He had been a sheet metal fabricator for IMPCO for many years before retiring.
He had previously worked for Northrop Grumman, Custom Metal Fabricators and the Foxboro Company.
John had been a member of the Norwood Elks Club, and the Walpole Italian American Club.
He was passionate fan of the New York Yankees and the New England Patriots.
John loved to play bocce, golf, cribbage, horse shoes and pool.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, John E. Iagatta, Jr. of North Carolina, Elaine E. Iagatta of Belmont and Cheryl Ann Iagatta of Attleboro.
He is also survived by his granddaughter, Madison Iagatta Cappadona of Belmont.
He is also survived by his sisters Louise “Lulu” Everett and Roseann Centamore of Walpole.
He was the brother of the late Daniel and Matthew Iagatta.
His funeral will be held on Friday, March 6 from the Ginley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 892 Main Street, Walpole at 9:15 followed by a funeral mass in Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00.
Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 2-8 p.m.
