Obituary

On February 27th, at 4:45 am, Mae Landers left this world, a world she could no longer belong to. She passed away at the Golden Living Center, a victim of Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
Mae Louise Landers was born in Worcester on September 6, 1927, the daughter of William and Tekla Ekeroth. She is predeceased by brothers, William, Gustaf and Oscar and sisters Edith Evans and Alice Anderson. She leaves behind her loving husband of 68 years, John H. Landers, a son, John M. Landers and his wife, Laura, grandchildren, Brenna and Erica Landers, Darryl Thomas, Erica’s partner, great grandchildren, Aria and Darryl Thomas, and many nieces and nephews.
Mae was a graduate of Commerce High School, and worked at Melville Shoe. She also was a nurse’s aide at Memorial Hospital, performed voluntary work for the Joe Schwartz Little League, and was the booking agent for her son John’s various bands. Mae was a very gifted singer, as well, appearing with professional big bands during her youth. Her lifelong love of music was inspiring.

A son’s fond recollection ….
.. I will recall the random Saturday night's during the many July's at 29 Marconi Rd, as Mae and
husband John hoisted their Pilsner's filled with Pabst Blue Ribbon, laughing and playing Crazy
Eights and looking at each other as if they were the only two people on the planet.
They not only loved each other, they liked one another, maybe the most powerful force of all.
The Landers family extends their gratitude to Valerie Ingman of the Beacon Hospice group for
her timely and sensitive assistance during the final hours of Mae’s life, and to staff members
at the Golden Living Center, especially, Mary Ellen.

Time to finally rest in peace, Mae.

There will be no calling hours and burial will be private. Please forward all donations to the Alzheimer Association, Watertown, MA. To leave an online condolence message, please click link below;.
