Respus "Lamar" Hopkins, 72, of Enigma passed away Friday, February 27, 2015, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2015, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Rev. W. Garvie Nichols, Sr. officiating. Mr. Hopkins will be laid to rest at Enigma Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 1, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Newton Meadows, Jimmy Boyd, Flint Tucker, Jay Herebia, Tony Jordan and Hank Hopkins will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Hopkins was born May 1, 1942 in Johnson County and was the son of Charlie Hopkins, Sr. and Marybelle Stapleton Hopkins, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Connie Gray Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins was retired from Chaparral Boat Company and was a member of the National Guard.
Mr. Hopkins is survived by two sons, Lamar Hopkins Jr. of Hogansville and Keith Keen of Enigma ; one daughter, Donna Oliver of Hortense; one sister, Shirley Hopkins of Enigma; three brothers, Charlie Hopkins of Enigma, Gene Hopkins of Enigma and Ed Hopkins of Swainsboro; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
