Obituary

Lucien A. “Lou” Roy, age 84, of Newmarket, N.H., formerly of Lynn, died Feb. 24 at the Exeter Hospital surrounded by his family after a brief illness.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Lucien A. Roy and Marie M. (Fratus) Roy, and the beloved husband of Lois A. (Grass) Roy, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage. He was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School in 1949 where he played football as quarterback.

After graduating, he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Germany and played football for the Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion Post 67 of Newmarket, N.H.

Upon discharge from the Air Force, he went to work for the Lynn School Department for 38 years as a painter/glazer, retiring as a supervisor.

Besides his wife, Lois, he is survived by Annette Roy-Nims and her husband Rick, Joanne Cier and her husband Gary, both of Florida, Steven Roy and his wife Janet of Connecticut; stepchildren Jacqui Finn of Amesbury, Stephen Dixon and his wife Lisa of Lynn, Vicki Beaupre of Lee, N.H., and Brenda Dixon of Newmarket, N.H. Beloved grandfather of 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Lorraine LaFleur and her husband Robert of York, Maine, and Barbara Nadworny and her husband Richard of Lynn and the late Richard Roy. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
