Obituary

James, F. Martelli, age 88, of Brockton, died February 22, 2015 at Southeast Rehabilitation following a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Patricia M. (Perrault) Martelli. Born, raised and educated in Brockton, Jimmy was the son of the late Dominic and Emily (Dwyer) Martelli. He was an Army veteran of WWII and for many years had been employed as a Welder at the Fore River Shipyard. Jimmy was very sociable and enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Raynham Dog Track and playing cards at the Conte Memorial Club. He also loved to eat at the Italian Kitchen and Christos. At Southeast Rehabilitation he loved to sing for all the residents and workers. While living at Belair Heights, he was known for always helping his neighbors.
Jimmy is survived by his son James F. Martelli, Jr.; his late wife’s children Kevin, Dean, and Troy D’Agostino, and Anna and Tracy Sullivan; two grandchildren Gianna and Domenic Martelli; and his late wife’s nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was the brother of Rachael DeLea and Robert Martelli; father of the late Paul Martelli, and preceded in death by Patricia’s late children Robin, Daniel, Jr. and Dominic D’Agostino.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Friday 9-10am followed by a funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Parish at 10:30am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jimmy’s name may be made to the Southeast Rehabilitation Patient Activity Fund, 184 Lincoln Street, North Easton, MA 02356.
