Rita G. Peters, 96 of Provincetown, died Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Seashore Point Wellness Center in Provincetown. She was the wife of the late Sherman Peters.
Born in Truro, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Frazier) Gray. After graduating from Provincetown High School, Mrs. Peters worked in retail sales for several businesses in Provincetown, including many years at Adams Pharmacy. She was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Parish.
Rita enjoyed crafting, crocheting and bead work. She was adept at doing Santa with his reindeer, lighthouses and other scenes on clothing. She would sell them at local craft fairs and enjoyed meeting the people in attendance.
She is survived by her daughters Mildred Kleips and Pauline Costa, both of Provincetown and Rose McDougal in Missouri. She also leaves many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Thomas Peters and daughter Virginia Belisle. She was also predeceased by her brother, Robert and sisters Elizabeth and Margaret.
Family and friends are invited to attend a calling hour at Gately Funeral Home, 94 Harry Kemp Way, Provincetown on Friday, February 27th from 9:00 – 10:00 am. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 am in St. Peter the Apostle Church, 11 Prince Street, Provincetown. Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery at a later date in the spring.
