Obituary

WEBSTER – Josephine C. Harrington, 93, completed her life’s journey on Saturday, February 21, 2015, with her family at her side. Her first husband, Roland A. Belec died in 1969, and her second husband Charles Augustus Harrington died in 1982.
Josephine leaves her daughter, Patricia B. Korch and her husband Kenneth, of Dudley; sisters, Rita Blair, of Middleboro, MA; and Theresa Zaganiacz of Gilbertville, MA; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and her dear friends Pearl and Mathilda. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Rose Grzyb, Emily Gromelski, Gertrude Kosnoski, Isabel Corbin and Sophia O’Connell; and two brothers, Thomas and Robert Mozdzierz.
Josephine was born in Webster, the daughter of Albert and Antonia (Suss) Mozdzierz. She attended St. Joseph School.
She worked as a French cord stitcher at the Diamond Eisenberg Shoe Corporation for 30 years before retiring.
Josephine was a communicant of St. Joseph Basilica, and a former member of the St. Joseph Polish Woman’s Club. She served on the club board and chaired many committees. She was a life member of the Polish American Veterans (PAV) of Webster and served as board president for four years, as a trustee, and was an active committee member. She enjoyed making pierogi with other PAV members to help fundraise. Josephine was an excellent cook and baker, adept at sewing and craftwork, and enjoyed reading, word games, and spending time with her friends.
Josephine loved her family dearly, and served as a caregiver and healthcare advocate for her own parents, parents-in-law, both husbands, and for many family members in their time of need. The family extends their gratitude to the caregivers at Webster Manor for the loving attention they gave Josephine over the past two years.
The funeral mass to celebrate Josephine’s life will be held on Saturday, February 28, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street in Webster. (Please meet a the Basilica.) Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to either the St. Joseph School Immediate Needs Fund, 53 Whitcomb St., Webster, MA 01570 or to the Webster Manor Resident Activities Fund, 745 School Street, Webster, MA 01570. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street.
