Obituary

WEBSTER – Rachel V. (Chauvin) Gagnon, 92, formerly of Webster, died Saturday, February 21, 2015 in Life Care Center of Auburn after a short illness. Her husband of almost 50 years, Raymond E. “Chick” Gagnon, Sr., died in 1994.
She leaves a daughter, Karen A. Curry of Centennial, CO; 2 grandchildren, Kelcey E. Hoyt and her husband Jeffrey of Brookfield, CT and Brent L. Curry and his wife Amy of San Diego, CA; 2 great-grandchildren, Amanda and Colin; a brother, Dr. John H. Chauvin and his wife Mary of Olmstead Falls, OH; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Raymond E. “Champy” Gagnon in 1971, by her sister, Elaine B. Picazio in 1990 and by her brother, Leonard A. Chauvin in 2010.
She was born and raised in Webster, a daughter of John B. Chauvin, Jr. and Stella G. (Radziewicz) Chauvin and lived in Webster until moving to Eddy Pond in Auburn in 2012. She graduated from Bartlett High School and from the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing.
Mrs. Gagnon was a registered nurse at Worcester City Hospital in her youth and in later life at other hospitals. She spent the remainder of her life being a homemaker.
She was a communicant of Saint Louis Church. She enjoyed writing and cooking. Her approach to politics was conservative.
The funeral will be held Thursday, February 26, at 11:00 AM in St. Louis Church, 14 Lake Street (please meet at the church). Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There are no public calling hours. Donations in her name may be made to Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street, Webster, MA 01570. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., Webster.
