Geraldine R. “Geri” Grande, 81 of Medford, died Saturday after a long illness in the Bear Hill Nursing Center, Stoneham.

Born in Boston, she resided in Medford since 1955 and was formerly of the North End of Boston. She was the daughter of the late Maria (Gioia) and Vincenzo Amato. Geraldine attended Emerson College where she received her bachelor and master’s degrees. Also became an Adjunct Professor in communication. She was affiliated with Emerson College for 33 years from 1965-1998 and retired as an Administrator of Student Faculty. Geraldine was chairperson with the Chevalier Auditorium for 35 years and oversaw the restoration of the theater. She also was very active with St. Joseph Church.

Beloved wife of Joseph L. Grande. Devoted mother of Daniel L. Grande and his wife Paula of Medford, Candy Grande of Medford and the late Patricia Grande. Loving grandmother of Camille Fargo, Paul, Christopher, Michael and Joseph Grande, Also survived by 6 loving great grandchildren. Sister of Vito Amato of Revere, Josephine Vignolo of West Roxbury, Philip Amato of Jamaica Plain, Vincent Amato of Norwood and the late Rose Lioneta, Geralmo, Salvatore and Angela Amato. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday February 26, at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8.
Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
