Obituary

Lakeville - William B. Payton, Sr. of Lakeville, formerly of Whitman, died on February 21, 2015 at the age of 89. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Maheras) Payton.

Born in Brockton and raised in Whitman he was the son of the late William and Louise Payton, and a graduate of Whitman High School.

William had proudly served in the US Army during World War II.

Prior to his retirement, he had a long career as a finish carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local # 424.

He was an avid fisherman, and a fan of the Boston Red Sox, and spent many enjoyable hours tending to his vegetable gardens for which he was very proud.

In addition to his wife Mary he is survived by his son William Payton and his wife Nancy of Whitman and his daughter Susan Coots of East Bridgewater. He is also survived by his granddaughters Cailyn Manning, Darryl Payton, Allison Frisoli, Bridget Morgan and Shannon Maczei, his grandsons Jay, Ryan and Ben Coots and Andy Canario and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Anne Payton.

His funeral service will be held Tuesday February 24 at 7:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte.58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 4:00-7:00 PM.
