James N. Sfougaris age 83 of Canton passed away February 19th at Norwood Hospital. Born and raised in Canton, Jim attended Canton Public Schools, and was the president of the Class of 1949. He attended Boston University on a football scholarship. Mr. Sfougaris was a gym teacher in both the Canton Public School System and at St. John’s School. He worked for Met Life Insurance Company. Jim was a member of the Canton Town Club , Sven-Brask Chess Club and the Quincy Chess Club. Beloved husband of Susan (Wells) Sfougaris of Canton. Loving father of Peter N. of Fall River, James P. & (Barbara) of Canton, and Sandra Britton & her husband Robert of Stoughton. Brother of Tula Sfougaris of Stoughton & Aspasia Tsonos of RI and the late Nicholetta Cooper & Peter Sfougaris. Cherished grandfather of James “Mitsou” Sfougaris & (Nicole), Chris Britton & (Deb), & Kaitlin Hoffmaster & (Steve). Great grandfather of Nico, Sadie, JJ, Willa, Roman, & Bennett. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Monday 4-8 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday morning at 11:00. Interment Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
