Obituary

Bridgewater – Howard E. Lincoln, Sr. 92, formerly a longtime resident of Whitman, died peacefully Thursday February 19 after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of 68 years to Edith V. (D’Arpino) Lincoln.

Born and raised in Whitman he was the son of the late Cyrus and Elizabeth (Dickie) Lincoln and a graduate of Whitman High School, Class of 1940.

He was a proud veteran of World War II having served in the US Army Air Corp from 1942-1945, and was a member of the American Legion Post 22 and the VFW Post 697 where he had served as commander.

Howard furthered his education graduating with his Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University in 1950.

Prior to his retirement he was the owner and operator of the Lincoln Tax Service and along with his partner William J. Hill was the owner for 20 years of the Herring Run Golf Course of Taunton.

As a longtime resident of Whitman he was a member of the K of C and a communicant of the Holy Ghost Church.

After his retirement in 1984, he along with his wife had relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida where they remained before returning in 2002 to live at the High Pond Estates in Bridgewater.

He was an avid fan of the Boston sports teams and had enjoyed attending games as well as watching on TV. He loved playing golf, but this greatest joy was spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his loving children; Paula M. Costa and her late husband Herbie of Bourne, Howard E. Lincoln, Jr. and his wife Charlene of TN, Fred F. Lincoln and his wife Cindy of Raynham, Donna J. Levesque and her husband Duane of Middleboro, Michael W. Lincoln and his wife Gail of Bridgewater, Jana E. Nash and her husband Alphonse of Whitman and Kelly A. Vincenzi of Carver. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Clyde Lincoln, Gordon Dickie, Gladys Robak and Pauline Slocum.

His services will be held Tuesday February 24 at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9:00 AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will be at a later date in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Monday February 23 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
