Giselda “Sally” Sampson, 89 of Winthrop, died Wednesday after a brief illness in the Melrose/Wakefield Hospital, Melrose.

Born in Boston, she lived in Winthrop since 1951 and formerly of East Boston. She was the daughter of the late Maria (DiGianvittorio) and Sabatino Chiulli. Sally was a cashier, at Osco Drug in East Boston for 10 years until her retirement. She was a former member of the North Shore Mixed Lodge #2533.

Beloved wife of the late Francis “Frank” Sampson. Devoted mother of Mariann Nicoletti and her husband Richard of Winthrop. Also survived by her Grandkitty, Satina. Sister of the late Luciano, Dominic and Anthony Chiulli. Also several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop, Friday February 27, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family in the church from 9-10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Winthrop Cemetery, Winthrop.
