Zenaide Ferreira of Taunton passed away suddenly on the morning of February 18, 2015 at Morton Hospital. Mrs. Ferreira was 78 years old. She was the loving wife of Duarte Ferreira of Taunton. Zenaide was the loving mother of Maria Costa and her husband Daniel of Taunton and the late Robert Ferreira. She was the proud grandmother of Ricky Ferreira and his wife Shana and great grandmother of Dylan and Greta Ferreira. Along with her son, Zenaide is reunited with her parents the late Joao Botelho and Virginia (DeJesus) Araujo and her brother the late Jose Araujo. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Ferreira was born on November 29, 1936 in the Azores. She completed her education in Azorean schools and would go on to marry her husband Joao with whom she shared nearly 60 years of marriage. Zenaide called Taunton home for 46 years. She was a devote Catholic with a calming faith in God.
She loved to knit and sew in her spare time. Zenaide was an excellent cook, a passion which she enjoyed sharing with her family and friends. Most of all family was everything to her and that was shown by her commitment as a homemaker and how well she took care of her family. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
Visiting Hours will be held on Monday February 23rd from 8:30-10:30am at Taunton Funeral Home 8 Crapo St. (off Route 140/Tremont St.) Taunton, MA . Following the visitation at 10:30am a Catholic funeral service will be held in the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
