WORCESTER-Shirley A. (Marr) Mantha, 78, proud lifelong resident of Worcester, passed away Wednesday, February 18 at the Rose Monahan Hospice House.
She is survived by three sons, James F. and his wife, Lisa Wiseman of Holden, Timothy G. and his wife, Tricia Wiseman of Shrewsbury and Stephen J. and his wife, Christina Wiseman of Sturbridge; a brother, William H. Marr of Ipswich; a sister, Marjorie Berard of Worcester; eight grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She also leaves her lifelong best friend, Shirley Tucson. Her first husband, James Wiseman died in 1971. Her second husband of 21 years, Richard P. Mantha died in 1997. A brother, John Marr, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of William and Dora (Rougeau) Marr and graduated from Saint Peter's High School.
Shirley was a pharmacy technician at CVS for many years, before retiring. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church. Shirley lived for her family and friends and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Shirley's family would like to thank the staff at Rose Monahan Hospice Home for their kindness and wonderful care, and also to Beacon Hospice and Associated Home Care.
The Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, February 24 at 11:00AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church. Burial will follow in Saint John's Cemetery. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
