Patrick Joseph Donovan, 65, of Brockton, MA died from complications of early onset Alzheimer’s Disease on Saturday February 14th, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Christine (Wessling) Donovan and devoted father of their two sons Braedan and Kellen Donovan.
He was born on April 20, 1949 to the late Richard X. Donovan and Margaret M. (Concannon) Donovan, both from Dorchester, MA. ‘Pat’ graduated in 1967 from Cardinal Spellman High School where he later was inducted into their Hall of Fame for his athletic prowess as a member of the football, basketball, and baseball teams.
Pat earned a Bachelor of Science Degree - Business Administration at Northeastern University while playing both baseball and football during his college years.
It was a Northeastern University co-op job that provided Pat with the inspiration to found “Patrick J. Donovan Associates” in 1975. Patrick J. Donovan Associates prospered early & grew to be one of New England’s largest independent claims adjusting companies with regional offices spread across Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
Pat was an avid skier, golfer and played baseball until he was 60. He was a member of the Thorny Lea Golf Club in Brockton, MA for the last 35 years.
Pat was the proud father of Patrick and his wife Lauren of Chicago, IL, Brian and his wife Anna of Easton, Micaila Donovan of Chicago, IL.
Patrick leaves his siblings and their families Michael of Plymouth, MA; Richard of Canton, MA; and Margie Ricci of Westerly, RI. He will also be missed by many friends and relatives.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Friday 4-8 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30am for a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30am.
