Obituary

Mr. Anthony D. D'Amelio, a resident of Andover for 42 years and beloved husband of 52 years of the late Marguerite (Evers) D'Amelio, passed away at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House on Wednesday morning, February 11, 2015. He was 93 years old.
Born in Malden, Massachusetts, on August 7, 1921, he was the beloved son of the late Leonard and Lucille (Delvecchio) D'Amelio. Anthony was a WWII Army veteran, entering the military at Ft. Banks in Boston on December 18, 1944 and receiving his honorable discharge from Fort Dix, New Jersey, on November 18, 1946. While serving in the military, Mr. D'Amelio worked as a Field Lineman and was awarded several medals for his exemplary service while he was stationed in both Japan and the Philippines. In civilian life, Anthony received his degree from Lowell Technical Institute and registration as a mechanical engineer from the North Carolina board of examiners. Anthony held several high level executive positions during his career within GE, Honeywell-Bull (Located in Belfort, France), and Honeywell Massachusetts.  During his employment, he and his family had lived in North Carolina, Europe, and Massachusetts. Following his retirement, he became an entrepreneur and was involved in several start up business ventures. In his spare time, Anthony enjoyed music, playing his piano and was an avid New England Sports Fan. He enjoyed being surrounded by his loving family. He will be dearly missed.
Anthony is survived by his loving children; Marianne and her husband Todd J. Nowell of Londonderry, New Hampshire, Daniel T. D'Amelio of New Hampshire and Donna L. and her husband Larry Marocco of Andover, cherished grandchildren; Keith and his wife Jaime D'Amelio, Matthew Nowell, Ellie and Lucy D'Amelio and Austin and Anna Marocco, dear great-grandson's; Marcus and Christian D'Amelio and several nieces and nephews. He was also the devoted brother of the late Anna D'Amelio.
His Funeral Service will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at 12:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, prior to the service, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Interment will be held in Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover. Donations in Anthony's memory may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack Street, Lawrence, MA 01843.
