Obituary

NATICK: Theresa Ann “Terry” (Sciretta) Sulzen, age 83, a former longtime employee of Leonard Morse Hospital, died peacefully at her Natick home surrounded by family on Friday morning, February 13, 2015. She was the devoted wife of the late H. Carl Sulzen for 50 years.

Born, raised and educated in Natick, she was a daughter of the late Nicola and Giulia (Ventorini) Sciretta. Terry was working at the Howard Johnson’s Restaurant in Wellesley when she met Carl. They were married in 1957and lived in Newton and Waltham prior to settling in Natick in 1962.

Terry was employed with Leonard Morse Hospital in various capacities for over 30 years. She retired as the Unit Secretary for “her Emergency Department” in 1996. She maintained friendships with many of her coworkers.

Fastidious in her appearance, paying particular attention to her fingernails, Terry spent many a night out socializing and dancing with Carl. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed knitting. Terry was known for the beautifully crafted scarves she shared with family and friends alike. She also enjoyed creating wonderful meals following old family recipes.

Predeceased by Carl in 2008, she is survived by her son, David R. Sulzen and his wife Jann of Wilmington, NC; her daughter and caregiver during her illness, Carla T. Sulzen of Natick; five grandchildren, Tara Sulzen, Tiffani Beckwith and her husband Simon Beckwith, Nicole Sulzen, Brittni Gorman, and Jonathan Gorman; three great-granddaughters, Avery, Elyse, and Juliette; a brother, Robert Sciretta of Palm Beach, FL; a niece, Debora Houghtalen, her husband Dr. Rory Houghtalen and their son Ryan of Penfield, NY; and a nephew, Daniel Sciretta of New Hampshire. She was also the sister of the late Domenic Sciretta, Jean Orme, and Louis Sciretta.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Linus Church, 119 Hartford Street, Natick, on Wednesday, February 18th at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery.
