Alice (Costa) Elias, 90, of Salem NH passed away peacefully Thursday February 12th at the Lawrence General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Faial Azores, Portugal. Daughter of the late Rosa (Pereira) and Manuel Costa. After moving to America Alice and her family lived in Lawrence and she worked for Mutual Manufacturing Company for 25 years where she was a member Amalgamated Garment Worker Union prior to retiring. She was a parishioner of St. Peter and Paul's Church in Lawrence. In her free time she enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, cooking, and especially spending time with her family.
Alice is predeceased by her husband Jose Elias and is survived by a daughter Elizabeth “Betinha” Garcia and her husband Antonio of Salem NH, Sisters Maria Lima of Canada, Lucilia Duarte and her husband Antonio of Salem NH, Zulmira Melo of Salem, NH, Brothers Manuel Costa and his wife Germana of Lawrence, Serafim Costa and his wife Ligia of Methuen, Sister-in-law Maria Julia Bettencourt of Lawrence, a grandson Jeffery, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Monday February 16th from 4-8 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday February 17th at 10:30 AM at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Road, Salem NH with entombment at the St Mary Immaculate Mausoleum in Lawrence.
