TEWKSBURY - Phyllis L. (Golen) Button, age 81, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, February 12, at the Tewksbury Hospital, after a long period of declining health.
She was born in Lowell, December 19, 1933, one of three children of the late Walter Golen Sr. and the late Sally (Reed) Golen. She was raised in Tewksbury, lived the greater part of her life in Londonderry, NH, before returning to Tewksbury’s Carnation Drive community in 1990. Most recently, she had been in residence at Tewksbury Hospital.
She was remembered as having devoted her life to her family. She loved all things red, especially hats. She enjoyed numerous outings at her favorite restaurant, Applebee's in Tewksbury, MA where she appreciated the wonderful staff.
She leaves five children, Brian R. Button and his wife Angela (Buzek) of Greenland, NH, Deborah J. Cressy and her husband Warren of Concord, NH, Holly J. Button of Concord, NH, Dane M. Button of Laconia, NH, and Heidi J. Button-Malo and her husband John Malo of San Diego, CA; eight grandchildren, Nichole Cote, Kevin, Brianna, and Sheldon Button, and Jennifer Moran, Kevin Cressy, Jaden Malo, and Emily “Emie” Button; four great grandchildren, Noah, Trevor, Allah, Rylan; a brother, Louis “Mickey” Golen of Tewksbury, a sister-in-law, Alice Golen of Tewksbury, who was the wife of the late Walter Golen Jr.; many nieces and nephews; and was eagerly awaiting the birth of a great grandchild this May.
Memorial visitation will be at the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950, on Friday, Feb. 20, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon. A Prayer service will follow at Noon also at the funeral home. Spring-time burial will be in Tewksbury Cemetery.
