Irene I. (Martin) Castonguay, 96, of Methuen passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday February 10th at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Methuen. She was born in Lawrence daughter of the late Eleanor (Perron) and Wilfred Martin. Irene was a graduate of St Anne’s High School and later worked at Pacific Mills in Lawrence and Western Electric in North Andover for 30 years prior to retiring. In her free time she enjoyed playing bingo, CMAC bowling, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Irene is predeceased by her husband of 50 years Roland J. Castonguay and is survived by 2 children Robert Castonguay of Derry NH, Janice M. Gaudet and her husband William of Methuen, a sister in law Theresa Martin of Lawrence, 5 grandchildren Raquelle Castonguay, Derek Castonguay, Jennifer Gaudet, Kimberly Gaudet, Michelle Sierpina and her husband Stephen, 2 great grandchildren Sophia and Isabel Sierpina, several nieces and nephews, and is also predeceased by several brothers and sisters Ida, Wilfred, Evelyn, Leo, Gene, Albert, Blanche also her best friend, and Adrian.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Monday February 16th from 3-6 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen. A funeral service will take place at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home on Tuesday February 17th at 10:30 AM with burial to follow at the St Mary Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
