Obituary

J. Leo Conroy of Berkley, MA died peacefully on February 7, 2015 after succumbing to complications related to his life-long battle with syringomyelia.
Born May 13, 1940 in Taunton, MA, he was the son of the late Leo J. Conroy, and Loretta (Yelle) Conroy. Leo was a lover of learning, graduating Monsignor James Coyle High School, Class of 1958, Providence College, Class of 1962 and Bridgewater State College, where he received his Masters in Education in 1977. Leo chose the vocation of teaching and served the children of Taunton in that capacity for over 35 years, until his retirement in 1999.
His passionate love of history manifested itself in a lifetime of collecting coins and stamps, which, ever the teacher, he enjoyed sharing with his children and grandchildren. As a superior cook, Leo was the creator of many of the family’s favorite dishes. He enjoyed spending quiet mornings reading the paper with a good cup of coffee and exercising his brain with various puzzles.
Leo will be dearly missed by his wife Kathleen (McCarthy) Conroy, his 3 children and their spouses, Sarah (Conroy) and Peter Davis of Berkley, Jay Conroy and Shannon Haley of Lunenburg, and Brendan and Nicole Conroy of Berkley, as well as his sister Janet (Conroy) Dooley and brother-in-law Paul Dooley of Raynham. He was the beloved grandfather of Meghan Conroy, Kaiden and Dorian Conroy, and Madelyne and Abigail Davis.
