Obituary

Mr. Lawrence P. Morrisroe, a lifelong resident of Andover and beloved husband of the late Eileen M. (Flynn), passed away at the Meadows Nursing Home in North Andover on Sunday morning, February 8, 2015. He was 93 years old.

        Born in Boston on May 1st 1921, Larry was the son of the late Joseph Jr. and Esther (Ballem) Morrisroe. He received his early education in Newton Highlands and was graduated from North Quincy High School with the class of 1938. A veteran of 5 1/2 years service with the U.S. Army during World War II, he used his eligibility under the G.I. bill to enter Merrimack College in North Andover with the first class where he earned a degree in Economics. After spending several years as a field examiner with the Federal Home Loan Banking System, he was hired by the Arlington Trust Company of Lawrence in 1959 where he spent the next three decades as a bank vice-president chiefly in the mortgage department.

        Larry was a life member of the Andover Knights of Columbus and a long time member of the Friends of Merrimack College and the Men's Guild of Caritas Holy Family Hospital. He served for many years on the boards of Central Catholic High School and St. John's Prep as well as on the board of Mary Immaculate Health Care Services.

        He is survived by his loving children Patricia Morrisroe and her husband Lee Stern of New York City,  Marise Tenenbaum and her husband Victor also of New York City and Nancy Morrisroe and her husband Mark Slater of Boston, MA. He is also survived by two adoring grandchildren Allegra Tenenbaum and Isabel Slater. The family would like to thank the wonderful and kind staff at The Meadow nursing home in North Andover for their care and compassion. They would also like to acknowledge with many thanks the devoted friends that remained in his life until the end.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Augustine Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover on Friday, February 13, 2015, at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visitation will be held in the church, prior to the mass, from 9:30 to 10:15 AM.
