Mary K. Markey 91 of Methuen passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Wingate Nursing Home in Lowell. Mary was born in Methuen on March 2, 1923. She was a graduate of both the Edward F. Searles High School, Class of 1940 and the Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1944. Throughout her career, Mary worked as a registered nurse at the Holy Family Hospital, Lawrence General Hospital and in private home health care throughout the Merrimack Valley.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Laurence F. Markey, brother John A. Kenyon and her son William L. Markey. She was the devoted mother of James M. Markey and his wife Christine of Methuen, Carol A. Keating and her husband James J. of Methuen and Daniel F. Markey of Derry, NH. Mary was the dear sister in-law of Mildred Kenyon of Methuen. She was the cherished grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her three former daughters in-law, Jane Markey, Eileen Markey and Wendy Markey.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen. A mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 9:00 AM at St. Monica’s Parish of Methuen. Interment to follow at Ridgewood Cemetery of North Andover.
