Margaret Mary (Flynn) Bruno April 21, 1932 - January 31, 2015Margie (Meme) died peacefully, with her husband Joe holding her hand and her family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a loving and kind person who always put her husband, children, grand-children and great-grand-children first. Margie was especially fond of sweets and loved to bake cupcakes and cookies particularly for her grandchildren, who affectionately called her Meme. She also crocheted beautiful blankets that she enjoyed giving to her family.
Margie was raised in Dorchester, MA and was the second child of Margaret (O’Connor) Flynn and Michael Charles Flynn. She was very proud of her Irish heritage, her father serving as a lieutenant in the Boston fire department and her mother’s cooking and baking skills. She was a devout Catholic and worked for the Boston Catholic Youth Organization and the Massachusetts State House prior to her marriage. She was a communicant of Saint Gerard’s Church in Canton, MA, and regularly went to Mass until her health prevented her from attending.
Margie is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Joseph Sr., her children Joseph Jr. and his wife Gail of Easton, MA., Michael and his wife Jacquelyn of Norwell, MA., Kathleen (Bruno) Steiger and her husband Kurt of Easton, MA., and her youngest son Gerard of Canton, MA. She leaves her grand-children, Kaitlin and Brianne MacLean and Jonathan and his wife Lauren MacLean, Joseph III, Sean, Robert and Charles Bruno, Madeline and Audrey Bruno and her great-grand-children Jackson and Logan MacLean. She was also predeceased by her grandson Ryan Bruno.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Thursday, February 5, 2015 at from 4-8 pm. Funeral Mass in celebration of the life of Margaret Bruno will be held at St. Gerard Majella Church Canton Friday, February 6, 2015 at 10:00 am.
