Obituary

WEBSTER- Harriet E. (Nawrocki) Stoica, 96, died Friday, January 30, 2015 after an illness. Her husband of 18 years, Nicholas Stoica, died in 1969.
She was born in Webster, the oldest child of Wladyslaw and Felicia (Dzienisewicz) Nawrocki and lived here all her life.
Harriet was employed by Stevens Linen Associates in Dudley for 25 years, working in the linen calendar towel production area. She was the recipient of the National Safety Council’s Employee of the Year Award for her accomplishments at Stevens; it was presented at the annual awards banquet. After her husband’s untimely death, she worked full-time to provide a nurturing home and family life for her two children. She retired in 1990.
A homemaker before her years at Stevens Linen, she enjoyed cooking and baking (especially her delicious gingerbread). Having grown up in the Great Depression, she knew how to manage and budget her resources for the benefit of her family. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor.
Mrs. Stoica was a communicant of Saint Joseph Basilica and a member of its Holy Rosary Sodality and Sacred Heart Society. She loved dancing, especially waltzes: her husband and she were the most graceful couple on the floor.
She leaves a daughter, Janet E. Stoica, with whom she lived; a son, David Stoica and his wife Ann Marie of Paxton; a granddaughter, Mary Ann Manning and her husband Craig; a grandson, Nicholas Stoica and his longtime companion Sara Davis; a great-granddaughter, Danielle Davis; 2 sisters, Alice Lazur of Woodstock, CT and Johanna “Jennie” Huard of Spencer; her sister-in-law, Marie (Lavallee) Nawrocki, who was also her caregiver and special friend; and several nieces and nephews. Her brother Walter Nawrocki died in 2007.
The funeral will be held TUESDAY, February 3, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, North Grosvenordale, CT. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM SUNDAY, February 1, in the funeral home. Donations in her name may be made to St. Joseph Gymnasium Fund, 53 Whitcomb St., Webster, MA 01570.
