John Lima Jr., age 98, passed away January 30, 2015. Born in Fall River, he was the husband of the late Mary (Medeiros) Lima and son of the late John Lima Sr. and Alexandrina (Cordeiro) Lima. John was a retired firefighter for the City of Fall River serving many years as the Chief’s driver. He was a WWII US Army veteran serving in General Patton’s Tank Corp of the 3rd Army, a member of the Veteran’s Association of Bristol County and the Retired Fall River Municipal Employee’s Association.
He was the father of Robert M. Lima (wife Susan) of Somerset and David Lima of Fall River; brother of Rose Amarello of FL, Di Machado of Somerset and the late Dennis Lima, Antone “Hap” Lima, Mary Lima and Alexandrina Dybowski. He also leaves grandchildren Robert Lima Jr., Christopher, Danielle, Jonathan and Alexander Lima; great grandchildren Christopher Lima Jr. and Jamie Lima and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will take place form the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on THURSDAY at 9:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas More Church at 11:00 A.M. Interment Will Be Private.
