Doris J. Young, 72, of Fitzgerald, died Thursday, January 29, 2015, at Life Care Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, January 31, 2015, at New Bethel Holiness Baptist Church in Ben Hill County with the Rev. Larry Bowen and the Rev. Edsel Young officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Young was born October 14, 1942, in Irwin County, to the late Elbert Elisha & Rachel Rowell Shrouder. She was a graduate of Fitzgerald High School. She managed The Kenwin Shop and was the owner/operator of Shrouder’s Dress Shop. Her church and her family were her hobbies. A loving sister, wife, mother, and Granny, she was a member of New Bethel Holiness Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Melton Young of Fitzgerald; daughter and son-in-law, Kim & Donnie Youghn of Irwin County; her grandchildren, Cody Youghn and Kaley Youghn, both of Irwin County; a brother and sister-in-law, Waymon & Nollie Shrouder of Fitzgerald as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Melton Eddie Young; a sister, Betty Ruth Bishop; and a brother, Billy Shrouder.
